Kim Yoon-deok, the Minister candidate for the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "I will supply quality dwellings sufficiently to resolve supply anxiety and manage the housing market stably."
Candidate Kim noted during his opening remarks at the National Assembly's personnel hearing on the 29th, "The real estate market is showing a temporary stability due to the 6.27 loan regulations, but uncertainties still remain."
Candidate Kim said, "I will expand the supply of dwellings in prime locations such as station areas by utilizing idle land and aging public facilities in urban areas, and I will also revitalize redevelopment and reconstruction projects while considering the harmony between public interest and private gain."
He emphasized that he would resolve the factors delaying the third new towns to accelerate the project.
He added that he would expand tailored supply of dwellings for young people, newlyweds, and the elderly, while alleviating the housing cost burden for low-income and vulnerable groups.
Candidate Kim emphasized that "balanced development is not a choice but a matter of survival." He also stated that "the fundamental measures to rectify the polarization issue, where the provinces are suffering from economic stagnation and unsold properties while Seoul and the metropolitan area see excessive price hikes, depend on national balanced development."
To this end, Candidate Kim said, "I will focus on nurturing the '5 poles 3 special' economic living zone where the metropolitan area and the provinces can coexist." He mentioned that the three special areas of North Jeolla, Gangwon, and Jeju would support specialized growth linked to local resources. He added that Sejong would be developed into a proper administrative capital and that the second transfer of public institutions would also be expedited.
Regarding the transportation sector, he stated, "I will swiftly expand the high-speed railway network and road network, while establishing regional hub airports without delays."
Regarding future growth engines in the field of land and transport, he said, "Through technological development and bold regulatory innovation, I will strengthen the global competitiveness of the future mobility industry, including autonomous vehicles and urban air mobility (UAM), and I will make industrial complexes a base for future strategic industries such as RE 100 (100% renewable energy use) and artificial intelligence (AI)."
Candidate Kim also said, "I will strengthen safety management across all fields of land and transport and enhance the institutional safety net to ensure that delivery, transportation, and construction workers are not exposed to safety accidents or overwork and can receive fair treatment."
