On the 29th, Hyundai E&C announced that it had conducted repairs related to the discovery of wall cracks at the Olympic Park Foreon Apartment in Dunchon-dong, Gangdong-gu, and had selected a structural safety precision inspection company to carry out a comprehensive investigation.
According to Hyundai E&C and others, on that day, a meeting was held involving Hyundai E&C, Gangdong District Office, the residents' representative meeting, residents, and the head of the living support center regarding the occurrence of cracks at the Olympic Park Foreon.
The Olympic Park Foreon is a complex where residents' anxiety has spread as images of long horizontal cracks on the hallway walls of the 34-story apartment complex have circulated on social media.
A representative from Hyundai E&C noted, "This defect was confirmed to be a construction joint that was implemented under the approval of the supervising team during the construction due to an imbalance in the supply of ready-mixed concrete, leading to a planned separate pouring process," and added, "As a result, we began repairing the cracks on the 22nd."
He also stated, "We apologize for causing anxiety to the residents during the not-so-smooth repair process and will do our best to restore the status of the complex."
Through the meeting, Hyundai E&C announced that it would select a structural safety precision inspection company and first conduct a safety inspection in the building where the cracks occurred, followed by a comprehensive safety inspection of the entire complex.
Additionally, a related statement will be issued soon, and repairs will be carried out after consultations with the residents' representative meeting regarding the repair schedule.
Explanations will be provided to residents in the building where the cracks occurred, and residents' opinions will be collected and reflected. A safety inspection company was also recommended.
Olympic Park Foreon is a complex consisting of 12,032 units built through the reconstruction project of Dunchon Jugong, which was completed in November last year.
