The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that Vice Minister Lee Sang-gyeong met with Mohammed Ali Al Shorafa, the chairman of the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport, on the 17th to discuss 'cooperation plans in urban and transportation sectors between Korea and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Abu Dhabi occupies 86% of the UAE's area and holds 94% of the UAE's oil reserves, making it a leading emirate in the UAE's economic development.
The Ministry is collaborating with the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport on high-level meetings and the promotion of technological cooperation projects related to hydrogen production and charging.
The Vice Minister noted, "Our country is creating a future city model capable of efficient urban management by applying advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital twins, and robotics throughout the city," and added, "We will collaborate to develop Abu Dhabi into an eco-friendly future city through our country's urban development technology and experience."
He further stated, "We will promote the cooperation projects to secure hydrogen production and charging technologies that both sides are pursuing without any setbacks to expand collaboration in hydrogen city development and the hydrogen energy sector."
Chairman Mohammed responded, "This visit to Korea was a great opportunity to experience Korea's urban construction and infrastructure development expertise and technology, and we will continue to maintain cooperation between the two departments in the future."
Chairman Mohammed visited Korea on the 14th and attended the World Smart City Expo held in Busan on the 15th, where he delivered a speech.
