The founder of Yojin Construction Industry, Chairman Choi Jun-myung, passed away on the 28th. He was 92 years old.
Chairman Choi was born in 1933 in Yeonggwang, South Jeolla Province, and graduated from Hanyang University with a degree in architectural engineering. He entered the construction industry in 1957 by joining Dongseong Sanggong, becoming a first-generation constructor.
After founding Yojin Industrial in 1976, he became chairman in 1988, expanding the company's business areas into dwellings, civil engineering, distribution, and hotels, turning it into a mid-sized comprehensive construction company.
Chairman Choi also dedicated himself to education and nurturing talent. In 2004, he became the chairman of the Korean Child Welfare Association, and in 2005, he took on the role of chairman of Whikyung Academy. Additionally, in 2010, he established the Yojin Construction Golf Team and supported promising players.
Survived by his wife, Ms. Kim Yong-ja, their eldest son Choi Seong-kyu (CEO of IDA), their second son Choi Eun-sang (vice chairman of Yojin Construction Industry), and their eldest daughter Choi Ji-won (CEO of YC).
The funeral is held in Room 1 of the special hall at Yonsei University Shan-choon Severance Hospital, with the burial taking place at 7 a.m. on the 30th. The gravesite is at Yeongmo Memorial Park in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.
