The investigation results of the bridge girder collapse at the construction site of section 9 of the Sejong-Anseong Expressway, which occurred in February, will reportedly be announced in July.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport noted on the 25th that it plans to announce the investigation results of the 'Sejong-Anseong Expressway Collapse Accident Investigation Commission' as early as July.
The Commission has been examining the causes of the accident from various angles, based on field investigations (including the production and construction condition of the collapsed girder and the installation status of anti-tipping facilities), hearings with related parties, reviews of relevant laws and design documents, quality tests, and commission meetings. Analysis of closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage (such as variations in the inclination of the launcher and piers) and structural analysis of collapse scenarios through 3D modeling were also conducted by specialized institutions.
Based on the investigation activities originally planned until the end of June, the Commission is drafting a preliminary accident investigation report and plans to announce the final investigation results along with preventive measures in July after completing any necessary additional reviews and follow-up organization.
O Hong-seob, the Chairperson of the Accident Investigation Commission, said, "We will establish effective preventive measures to ensure that similar accidents do not occur again."
