The Gangbuk District Office in Gangbuk-gu, Seoul, will transform its facilities into an administrative complex that includes not only the district office, district council, health center, and community center but also a daycare center, youth support center, and care center.
The Seoul City government announced on the 15th that it has revised and approved the proposal for the 8th Urban and Architectural Joint Committee meeting held on the 14th regarding the decision on the 'Suyu-Bundong district unit plan (amendment) and the special planning area development plan for the Gangbuk District Office.'
The new Gangbuk District Office building will have 6 basement floors and 17 above-ground floors, covering a total area of approximately 69,000 square meters. Construction is set to commence in June next year, with completion aimed for December 2028.
Gangbuk-gu has consolidated its fragmented administrative functions into the new district office due to the old district office, built in 1974, being outdated and cramped, thereby alleviating citizen inconvenience and enhancing administrative service capabilities.
The architectural plan for the new district office was selected through a design competition held in April last year, and according to the plan, the 'Open Plaza' being developed on the ground level is expected to secure the much-needed open space in the area while serving as a place for community relaxation and communication.
On the same day, the Committee also conditionally approved the revised proposal for the development plan of Special Planning Area 3 (Hangaram Apartment) within the district unit plan for the Seobinggo Apartment area in Yongsan-gu, Seoul.
Hangaram Apartment will transform from its current structure, which consists of 3 basement floors and 22 above-ground floors with 2,036 units, into a new configuration of 6 basement floors and 27 above-ground floors, accommodating 2,213 units, based on a floor area ratio of 499.15%.
The site is located in Ichon-dong 404 and is adjacent to Yongsan Park, situated south of Ichon Station on Seoul Subway Line 4, as well as on the Gyeongui and Jungang Line. This review was conducted to promote the remodeling of the apartment complex, which has been in place for 26 years post-completion. Following the passage of the review proposal, the remodeling project is expected to proceed in earnest after obtaining project planning approval and processing the district unit plan in Yongsan-gu.
