A special event that the whole family can enjoy will be held in the area of the Yongsan Park returned land temporary opening in celebration of Children's Day.
The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 28th that they will hold Children's Day events at Yongsan Children's Garden and General's Quarters Complex 5 from the 3rd to the 5th of next month.
The 'I Like Kids Festa' will take place at the Yongsan Children's Garden. Various events will unfold starting with a concert to stimulate children's imagination, featuring magic shows, a traditional Korean music concert with dreamers of traditional music, family sports day, and a guerrilla pierrot event.
In addition, experience programs for the whole family will be run in the grassy area, including caricatures for everyone, face painting called "Ball Flower," origami classes, healing stretching, and sparkling garden keyring workshops.
At the food truck and picnic zone, various recreational activities will be available, including romantic busking performances and a garden memory photographer event offering photo shooting and printing for visitors.
At General's Quarters Complex 5, 'Back to 90's, Music and Dance Festa,' which embodies the retro sentiment of the 90s, will be held. Main events will include swing dance performances and one-day classes, along with retro DJ booth music cafes, a memory photo booth, and rental of 90s props and costumes, as well as a vintage flea market.
The government is temporarily operating General's Quarters Complex 5 and Yongsan Children's Garden since August 2020 to allow citizens to experience the achievements of the base's return before officially crafting Yongsan Park. So far, the cumulative number of visitors has reached approximately 1.4 million.
Reservations for Yongsan Children's Garden can be made in advance on its website until 3 p.m. the day before the visit. For those visiting without a reservation, they can apply on-site and receive a confirmation text within 90 minutes for admission.
Jung Woo-jin, head of the planning team for Yongsan Park development at the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "We have prepared various sights and activities that the whole family can enjoy during this Children's Day week at the Yongsan Children's Garden and General's Quarters Complex 5," and added, "We hope many people come to make good memories as there are diverse events prepared."
