The Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH Corporation) said on the 24th that it has acquired verification results showing that the greenhouse gas emissions and emission source data it voluntarily calculated comply with international standards (ISO 14064).
On the 23rd, SH Corporation received a positive opinion on greenhouse gas emissions and emission sources concerning international standard ISO 14064 from the Korea Standards Association, which is designated as a verification institution by the Ministry of Environment.
ISO 14064 is an international standard aimed at accurately and independently verifying greenhouse gas emissions at the organizational level, and is regarded as a representative indicator that ensures the reliability and collateral of emission information.
The awarding ceremony was attended by Kim Young-bae, head of the Urban Development Division at SH Corporation, and Lee Dong-seock, head of the Industrial Standards Division at the Korea Standards Association.
SH Corporation has established a greenhouse gas inventory by calculating direct emissions (Scope 1) and indirect emissions (Scope 2) from 31 locations, including its headquarters building and the Comprehensive Residential Safety Center, as well as from operating vehicles, and has received a 'positive' opinion in accordance with international standard ISO 14064. This means that SH Corporation's greenhouse gas emission information has been calculated fairly and transparently according to international standards.
In the second half of this year, SH Corporation is also scheduled to receive ISO 14064 verification for other indirect emissions (Scope 3) arising from employee commuting, product purchasing, and asset leasing.
Previously, SH Corporation calculated the emissions across all Scopes 1 to 3 last year and obtained a positive opinion under ISO 14064. This data was disclosed in the 'Green Report (Eco-Friendly Report)' published in February this year.
SH Corporation President Hwang Sang-ha noted, 'The corporation will continue to strive for greenhouse gas emissions calculation and reduction efforts based on international standards,' adding, 'We will take the lead in fulfilling our environmental responsibilities and realizing ESG management.'
