The global volunteer team of 18 employees from Hyundai Engineering, selected through an internal recruitment process, participated in various volunteer programs, including climate change education and tree planting, from the 14th to the 19th (local time) in Thanh Hóa Province, Vietnam.

First, the volunteer team held a lecture on 'causes and effects of climate change' for local high school students at Hong Duc University's 'Climate Change Response Education Center.' They had a time to share thoughts on the climate crisis through various activities such as quizzes and discussions. Afterwards, they served as judges in a waste recycling idea contest participated by students from 11 high schools in Thanh Hóa Province, evaluating the submitted works and awarding outstanding projects.

The Climate Change Response Education Center was established in September as part of Hyundai Engineering's social contribution project, the 'No. 13 New Hope School' project. This education center conducts practical educational programs to improve climate change awareness and response capabilities among students, teachers, and residents in Thanh Hóa Province.

The volunteer team then visited Ben En National Park, where they planted 500 Melaleuca trees with local residents and contributed to environmental cleanup activities around the trails. Hyundai Engineering plans to support the planting of approximately 10,000 trees in Ben En National Park by 2026. A representative from Hyundai Engineering explained that this would help prevent soil erosion and runoff around the lake and protect water sources for local residents' agricultural activities and daily lives.

Hyundai Engineering has been consistently carrying out the 'New Hope School' social contribution project to build educational infrastructure for residents in regions connected through overseas projects. The area of Thanh Hóa Province, where the 13th New Hope School is located, was selected in connection with the construction of the 'Ion Mall Thanh Hóa' project, which Hyundai Engineering is currently implementing. Plans are in place to support climate change response in collaboration with Save the Children for about three years from last year to next year.

An employee from Hyundai Engineering who participated in this volunteer activity said, 'It was a meaningful time to communicate directly with local students and talk about climate change,' and added, 'I hope we can continue to contribute to sustainable development while breathing together with the community through the New Hope School project.'
