Kumho Engineering & Construction announced on the 17th that it will temporarily open the "Year-Jak Bridge," connecting Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province, ahead of schedule. The temporary opening event will be held at the end of this month.
Construction of the Year-Jak Bridge, which began in September 2022, was initially scheduled for completion in August 2025. However, Kumho Engineering & Construction moved the opening date forward to the end of this month at the request of the ordering agency to align with the 50th anniversary of the liberation of southern Vietnam and national unification. The section that Kumho Engineering & Construction is responsible for is part of the Ho Chi Minh City Third Ring Road, with the official opening expected by the end of June.
This bridge construction, which is solely undertaken by Kumho Engineering & Construction, aims to connect the "Tan Phu" area in the northeast of Ho Chi Minh City with the "Year-Jak" industrial complex in the southeastern Dong Nai Province. The Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) is providing the funding, while the My Thuan Project Management Unit (PMU) under the Ministry of Transport (MOT) is in charge of the contract. The total construction cost is approximately 100 billion won.
A Kumho Engineering & Construction official noted, "Once the Year-Jak Bridge is completed, it is expected to play a significant role in alleviating traffic congestion in Ho Chi Minh City."
