On the 16th, HDC Hyundai Development Company announced plans to create a 'Skyline' community along the Han River, spanning 330 meters in length and standing 74.5 meters tall, as they pursued the redevelopment of Area 1 in front of the Yongsan Maintenance Depot.
HDC Hyundai Development Company also proposed a 'Highline Community' that offers a 360-degree view of the Han River from 115 meters above ground.
Area 1 in front of the Yongsan Maintenance Depot is a project that will construct 12 buildings, 777 apartment units, 894 officetels, and commercial and office facilities, from 6 underground floors to 38 above-ground floors at the site located at 40-641, Han Gang-ro 3-ga, Yongsan-gu. The estimated construction cost is expected to reach 955.8 billion won.
The bidding for contractors, which closed the previous day, saw participation from HDC Hyundai Development Company and POSCO Engineering & Construction. Intense competition is expected leading up to the contractor selection meeting in June.
HDC Hyundai Development Company advocates the Sky Community Bridge Space strategy. Firstly, the layout is designed to ensure that all residents can overlook the Han River.
It will also create an ultra-large mixed-use community facility spanning 14,291 square meters (approximately 4,323 pyeong) that consolidates the three separate areas of Area 1 in front of the Yongsan Maintenance Depot.
They also plan to attract the global luxury hotel brand 'Park Hyatt.' The commercial facility is designed as a fully open street mall on the ground floor.
A representative from HDC Hyundai Development Company noted, 'Area 1 in front of the Yongsan Maintenance Depot is planned as the best residential, commercial, and community space reflecting the locational value and future vision of Yongsan,' adding, 'It will set a new standard for high-end housing as a premium landmark complex embracing the Han River.'
