Hyundai Engineering announced on the 14th that it has completed the design, procurement, manufacturing management, and on-site installation of the first Pre-Assembled Units Module (PAU module) for the SHAHEEN Project Package-2, currently underway in Ulsan.

The PAU module is a large structure that includes steel frames, machinery, piping, and electrical components. After pre-fabrication at the module factory, transporting and installing this module on-site helps shorten the construction period while enhancing construction efficiency and work safety.
The PAU module installed this time is a large structure measuring 22.8 meters in length, 16.3 meters in width, 23 meters in height, and weighing 327 tons, with a total of three units. The PAU modules fabricated in Mokpo were shipped from the Mokpo Daebul Port and safely transported 470 kilometers along the southern sea for two days to be installed at the Ulsan site. Hyundai Engineering has demonstrated its PAU module technology by overseeing the entire process from design and procurement to module manufacturing management and transportation by land and sea, as well as on-site installation.
The SHAHEEN Project is a project in which the client, S-Oil, is investing approximately 9.3 trillion won to build a high-value petrochemical product production facility, the largest scale among domestic petrochemical investments. Upon completion, it is expected to produce 1.8 million tons of ethylene, 770,000 tons of propylene, 880,000 tons of LLDPE, and 440,000 tons of HDPE annually.
Hyundai Engineering also introduced modular construction methods in the Kuwait Al-Zour LNG import terminal project completed in 2021, shortening the construction period.
Completing the construction of the superstructure of the marine docking facility, measuring a total of 1.2 kilometers in length, on time was key to the project's success. To overcome the variables of marine construction, Hyundai Engineering achieved a reduction in the construction period of more than six months by applying modular construction methods to the superstructure and piping work of the marine docking facility.
A representative from Hyundai Engineering said, "The successful execution of this PAU module will serve as an important milestone for project completion," adding that it will contribute to the advancement of plant modularization technology and strengthening global competitiveness.
