Minister Park Sang-woo of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport said on the 25th, "We will implement policies to support the spread of smart construction technology and systematic workforce training so that the construction industry can adapt to new technological changes such as digital and eco-friendly technologies and leap into a more competitive industry."

On the same day, Minister Park expressed deep gratitude to the 1.1 million construction professionals who have not spared their efforts and dedication until South Korea acquired world-class infrastructure and led the global construction market during the '2025 Construction Technicians' Day Commemoration Ceremony' held at the Construction Hall in Gangnam, Seoul.

Minister Park added, "We will prioritize ensuring safety on construction sites and create a safe construction environment where construction professionals can work with pride."

The ceremony was held to commend the efforts of construction professionals who made history with cumulative overseas construction orders worth $1 trillion, and to pledge the transformation of construction professionals who are creating a new future through the use of smart construction technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics. More than 1,000 people attended, including Minister Park, Commissioner Jeong Il-young of the Strategy and Finance Committee, Commissioner Son Myung-soo of the National Assembly's Land, Infrastructure and Transport Committee, and leaders of construction-related organizations.

This year's ceremony will award government honors (13 people) and Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport commendations (30 people) to 43 individuals recognized for their contributions to the development of construction technology.

The Gold Tower Industry Medal will be awarded to Jeong Tae-seob, chairman of Shinseong Engineering, for his contributions to the advancement of the economy and construction technology, including the design of major facilities such as subways and underwater tunnels for power distribution, which were the first in the country.

The Silver Tower Industry Medal will be awarded to Jang Deok-bae, a senior advisor at Muyoung CM Architects, for his contributions to the advancement of construction in the architectural field, including the construction of the Olympic gymnastics venue and writing the standard specifications and safety white papers.

The Industry Award will be given to Baek Jin-ki, CEO of Jangmak Engineering, and Song Soo-jin, CEO of Kairos Architects, while the Presidential Commendation will be awarded to Kim Seong-ho, vice president of Dongseong Engineering, among others, totaling five recipients. The Prime Minister's commendation and Minister's commendation will be presented to Jeong Yeon-gu, vice president of Deoksan Construction, along with 34 others.
