Major large construction companies, including Samsung C&T's construction division, have entered the public recruitment of new employees for the first half of this year. Many large construction companies included proficiency in English as a mandatory requirement for applicants due to overseas business trips. Some construction companies are also concurrently recruiting international students to hire global talent. There are also companies that hold online recruitment briefings or provide recruitment-related information through KakaoTalk or Instagram.
According to the construction industry on the 11th, the companies that have begun public recruitment of new employees for the first half of this year are Samsung C&T's construction division, Hyundai E&C, GS Engineering and Construction, and Kumho Engineering & Construction.
Samsung C&T's construction division, the 'older brother' of the industry, is accepting applications for public recruitment from the 10th to the 17th. It is targeting graduates or expected graduates before August 2025, dividing them into technical and management support positions. Technical positions are categorized into six fields: ▲architecture ▲civil engineering ▲energy/plant ▲dwellings ▲semiconductor production facilities ▲IT planning/operations, and only those with related majors can apply. All majors can apply for management support positions.
To apply for a technical position, applicants must have OPIc IM (Intermediate Mid) or TOEIC Speaking Level 6 or a score of 130 or higher, while only those with OPIc IH (Intermediate High) or TOEIC Speaking Level 7 or a score of 160 or higher can apply for management support positions. For the semiconductor production facilities field among the technical positions, successful candidates will work in the high-tech division that constructs the 'cleanroom' for Samsung Electronics' semiconductor production.
Hyundai E&C is also accepting applications for new employees in six job groups including civil engineering, architecture, plants, and new energy (nuclear, mechanical, electrical, civil engineering, architecture). Applications will be accepted until the 24th, followed by two rounds of interviews, with final successful candidates to be announced in July. Hyundai E&C is also concurrently recruiting international students to hire global talent, targeting graduates and expected graduates with master’s or doctoral degrees from domestic four-year universities in August. Hyundai E&C has employed around 100 people each year and plans to hire at a similar level this year.
GS Engineering and Construction is also conducting new employee recruitment and will accept applications until the 23rd. It will split recruitment into seven job groups in the construction field, 13 in business (sales, purchasing), six in design, two in safety, two in management support, and one in research and development. A GS Engineering and Construction official noted, “Last year, we selected about 90 people combined from the first and second halves,” adding, “A similar scale of recruitment is expected this year.” Both Hyundai E&C and GS Engineering and Construction require TOEIC (Speaking) or OPIc scores for applications. Kumho Engineering & Construction is also recruiting new employees in 13 job positions and received applications until the 9th.
Construction companies are providing various explanations to help applicants easily understand the job roles. They are also offering information relevant to succeeding in the application process.
GS Engineering and Construction will hold online recruitment briefings at 3 p.m. on the 11th and 18th. Anyone can access it via a QR code. Additionally, on the 12th and 19th, real-time recruitment consultations will be offered via KakaoTalk. On the Instagram ID @gsenc_career, there will be plans to provide job introductions and recruitment information by selection. Hyundai E&C also plans to offer the '2025 Hyundai E&C Secret Note' through Instagram's 'Hyundai E&C SNS Challenge.' Applicants who fill in the sentence “Hyundai E&C is 000” and post it on Instagram will receive the secret note, which contains self-introductions from successful candidates working in the industry.
A construction company official said, “Despite the tough situation in the industry, our company's policy is to maintain recruitment at a similar level to previous years.”
