GS Engineering and Construction announced on the 10th that it has developed a program called 'Xi-Book' that utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) to allow users to search construction standards anytime and anywhere, and is applying it at construction sites.
The Xi-Book developed by GS Engineering and Construction informs users of the latest standards by utilizing AI to provide over 5,000 pages of GS Engineering and Construction's dwelling construction standards, LH guidelines, and more. Previously, when checking quality, users had to search through documents or files one by one, but now they can quickly search for the information they need in seconds by querying the AI-trained Xi-Book.
In addition to providing information related to search queries, it also offers links to relevant YouTube videos, helping lower-level engineers who are not familiar with construction standards to understand more easily. Users can share search results with colleagues through links, facilitating smoother communication and improving work efficiency.
The Xi-Book was piloted at some sites until November of last year, evolving through suggestions for improvements made by the actual personnel after use. Based on feedback from the field, it has incorporated features that utilize Gen AI to extract images and text, and has trained the existing internal data of GS Engineering and Construction with AI to make it searchable through the app. In the future, it will be developed as an app that can be used without inconvenience even in environments where internet access is not smooth.
A representative from GS Engineering and Construction stated, 'Previously, the construction handbook was in the form of books or files, making it difficult to quickly check desired content among hundreds of pages of extensive documents.' They noted that 'using the Xi-Book, it is easy to verify construction quality based on standards, and we can share it with colleagues even from outside the site, increasing its usability.'
Heo Yoon-hong, the CEO of GS Engineering and Construction, emphasized the internalization of a digital mindset in this year's New Year's address and noted that they aim to innovate work methods using Gen AI and create a work-friendly environment through data-driven decision-making.
