The Seoul city government announced on the 28th that the results of the first urban regeneration committee meeting on the 27th approved the urban regeneration activation plan for the Shinwool 1-dong area in Yangcheon District.
The target area is around 799 Sinwool-dong, Yangcheon District (148,000 square meters). This area is in the height-restricted zone around Gimpo International Airport, making large-scale development difficult. Most roads are mixed-use for vehicles and pedestrians, resulting in poor pedestrian conditions.
In the future, the residential environment will improve through the maintenance of aging dwellings and alleyways. It is expected that the living environment will enhance with the maintenance of main streets and the creation of safe school routes. Senior centers will be improved through the utilization of local resources.
The change to the urban regeneration activation plan for Shinwool 3-dong in Yangcheon District was also approved as originally proposed. Major projects include the creation of the Shin Sam Village Cultural Development Center, maintenance of the village's main street, improvement of parking environments in the village, establishment of a safe village in Shin Sam, and improvement of children's playgrounds.
The project to create the Shin Sam Cultural Development Center has seen an increase in project costs and an extension of the project period due to changes in the project method, from remodeling to new construction, following a safety inspection that indicated structural safety issues.
