The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) announced on the 17th that the work of the consortium of Haesung General Architectural Firm and Tomun Engineering Architectural Firm was finally selected in the 'Yongsan Urban Regeneration Innovation District Complex Facility Design Contest.'

This competition, jointly organized by LH and the Seoul Housing and Communities Corporation (SH), aims to develop a complex facility that integrates functions of industry, commerce, housing, and administration by utilizing sites such as the public parking lot near Yongsan Electronic Market, including a public office (Ministry of National Defense affiliated facility and Yongsan Tax Office), and 604 public housing units (280 for sale and 324 for rent).

The project site covers a total area of 13,963 square meters, combining national and municipal land. The construction cost is approximately 343 billion won, and the design fee is about 12 billion won.

LH started the competition last November, conducted site briefings, and reviewed five submitted works, selecting the final piece after a public judging session on the 14th. The winning entry, 'Nexus Yongsan,' proposed a unified space capable of revitalizing the surrounding area by suggesting elements such as ▲consolidation of the city's gaps and connections ▲synergies between facilities ▲a platform for sharing and coexistence.

This project received high praise for its placement plan that considered the urban conditions, including the Yongsan International Business District and the development of the declining electronic market. It also earned favorable evaluations for its building placement and shape proposal as an open space, taking into account the surrounding park plans.

Based on the selected design plan, LH plans to carry out the implementation plan authorization process starting in the second half of this year and will proceed with the full-scale development project.

Yoo Geon-seok, head of the LH Yongsan Park Project Division, noted that 'this development project will serve as an innovative model for public-led regional development, creating a new vitality hub in the declining urban area,' adding, 'With the winning project selected, we will proceed with the follow-up procedures without any setbacks.'
