The city of Hwaseong, Gyeonggi Province, is promoting the construction of a complex convention center focused on advanced industry and culture near Dongtan Station in the Dongtan 2 new town.
Hwaseong noted on the 9th that it is discussing the construction of the convention center with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH), the implementer of the Dongtan 2 new town development project.
The site under consideration for the convention center is a 45,000 square meter area in the Dongtan 2 new town designated for central commercial facilities. Hwaseong plans to attract private capital to develop a complex space that includes exhibition and conference areas, entertainment, accommodation, and shopping facilities.
The site being considered for the convention center within the Dongtan 2 new town is right next to the integrated Dongtan Station for the SRT and GTX-A and has excellent accessibility via highways. Additionally, advanced industrial facilities, including Samsung Electronics' semiconductor plant, are already established or set to be developed nearby.
However, the construction of the convention center must go through negotiations with LH, which is responsible for land allocation and project bidding, and as such, the timing for groundbreaking has not yet been determined.
