Ajou Industry announced on the 5th that it is the first in the industry to introduce an automated temperature control system for cold weather concrete.
Cold weather concrete is a key material for maintaining the quality and stability of structures at construction sites during winter. Because it has a significant impact on structures, effective quality control through a production management system is essential. The initial temperature during production acts as a major factor in strengthening and workability, making temperature management for each material and the corresponding mixing water essential.
Ajou Industry's cold weather concrete can secure the required strength without separate heating curing under conditions where the daily minimum temperature is above -5℃, by utilizing only minimal thermal curing, thus drawing attention as a differentiated next-generation special concrete. Since thermal equipment such as curing blankets is unnecessary, the process can be simplified, and it is possible to prevent safety accidents due to the non-use of heating facilities and reduce curing expenses.
The automated temperature control system introduced by Ajou Industry detects the temperature of raw material storage facilities in real time through sensors and automatically adjusts the ratio of hot to cold water in the mixing water to maintain the target temperature consistently. This minimizes temperature deviation during the production process and secures uniform quality, significantly increasing the work efficiency of workers.
During pouring, ultra-small wireless sensors are inserted inside the concrete to enable real-time monitoring of the internal heat generated during the curing process. Related data is transmitted to the central quality management system. Field workers and quality managers can systematically manage temperature changes for 14 days after pouring, enhancing the safety of the structure and minimizing quality variations.
An official from Ajou Industry noted, "The introduction of the automated temperature control system will be an important turning point in the special concrete market, which is expanding in the construction industry. In the future, we plan to implement digitalization of quality management by integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) technologies to enhance the integrity of cold weather concrete and enable precise management."
