The number of apartments auctioned nationwide in December of last year was the highest in four years and one month.
According to Data analysis company Gigi Auction on the 9th, the number of nationwide apartment auctions last month was 3,510. This is an increase of 3% (102 cases) from the previous month’s 3,408, marking the highest figure in 49 months since November 2020 (3,593 cases).
By region, Daejeon's apartments saw the largest increase with 115 cases, recording the highest number of auctions in 11 years and 8 months since April 2013 (125 cases). Daegu (288 cases), Chungcheongnam-do (260 cases), and Chungcheongbuk-do (154 cases) also recorded their highest monthly numbers last year.
The nationwide successful bid rate was 37.6%, down 0.8 percentage points from the previous month (38.4%), while the successful bid price rate was 84.5%, a 1.0 percentage point decrease from the previous month (85.5%). The average number of bidders was 5.8, the lowest competition rate since November 2022 (5.3).
Gigi Auction noted, "Amid a weakening buying sentiment due to stricter loan regulations and political uncertainties stemming from the impeachment situation, the wait-and-see stance of buyers has deepened."
The successful bid rate for Seoul apartments was recorded at 39.8%, a decline of 8.5 percentage points from the previous month (48.3%), falling below the 40% mark for the first time in nine months. The successful bid price rate was 91.8%, down 3.1 percentage points from the previous month (94.9%). The average number of bidders remained the same as the previous month at 6.6.
