The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced on the 18th that it will designate three locations, including Yaksu Station in Jung-gu, Sangbong Terminal in Jungnang-gu, and Bulgwang Neighborhood Park in Eunpyeong-gu, as districts for the urban public housing complex project, with a total of 5,000 units.
The urban public housing complex project is an initiative led by public entities like the Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) to develop aging low-rise residential areas, transportation hubs, and semi-industrial areas within declining urban centers where project viability is low or where resident conflicts make it difficult to promote redevelopment projects. The designation of a district is carried out after securing the consent of more than two-thirds of residents (representing half of the land area) and undergoing review by the Central Urban Planning Committee and the Central Land Expropriation Committee.
The selected districts are planned to receive approval for the complex project plan in 2026 after integrated review, with the goal of beginning construction in 2028.
The supply scale near Yaksu Station is 1,616 units, near Sangbong Terminal is 1,168 units, and near Bulgwang Neighborhood Park is 2,150 units, for a total of 4,934 units.
