Former Democratic Party of Korea leader Jung Chung-rae said on the 14th that regarding the Public Prosecution Service organization plan, "I checked through several channels, and the reorganization plan for the Public Prosecution Service is not President Lee Jae-myung's intent."
Jung appeared that day on YouTuber Kim Ou-joon's channel and said, "The president handled it through the Blue House senior civil affairs office, and since he was told it had been well adjusted, he proceeded with the trip abroad on that understanding, but upon checking again, he issued a revised order saying, 'This is not my intent.'"
He added, "To take a representative example, even looking only at special judicial police, the original plan had them supported by the prosecution, but in this Public Prosecution Service organization plan, that was kept," and said, "Just the fact that the president said, 'Take all of that out,' shows it was not the president's intent."
Jung also said, "Rather, I think the president may have been blindsided by prosecutors who are scheming to maintain their vested interests," and added, "I hope there is no misunderstanding on that part, and since this is the final period, I hope the organizational reorganization plan for the Public Prosecution Service and the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency will be drastically revised to fit the principle of separating investigation and indictment, so that it turns out as we hope."
He continued, "Prosecutors who should be subject to judicial control are, brazenly, creating a judicial control department, and the parts related to collecting criminal intelligence should all be removed from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office," and said, "Some are pointing out whether it is appropriate for someone who opposed prosecution reform to be appointed as candidate for the head of the Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, and there should be careful deliberation."
