Kang Deuk-gu of the Democratic Party of Korea was named the new head of the Democratic Research Institute.
On the 14th morning, the Democratic Party said, "Party leader Kim Min-seok, under Article 57 of the party constitution, named lawmaker Kang Deuk-gu as head of the Democratic Research Institute."
Kang will lead the Democratic Research Institute, succeeding former head Lee Jae-young. The institute is a key body responsible for the party's policy development and research on the party and policy.
Since Kim Min-seok took office as party leader, Kang has served as Director General of the innovation task force (TF) launched to strengthen the institute's strategic capabilities and has discussed ways to reinforce the institute's role and functions.
Earlier, former Democratic Research Institute head Lee Jae-young officially offered to resign on the 31st of last month, two weeks after Kim Min-seok's leadership took office.
