It was reported on the 13th that Kim Min-seok of the Democratic Party of Korea recommended that Minister nominee Yong Hye-in of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family step down.
Kim Tae-seon, a Democratic Party lawmaker and chief of staff to Kim, wrote on Facebook the same day, "As chief of staff, I conveyed to nominee Yong Hye-in Kim Min-seok's recommendation, reflecting public sentiment, that she voluntarily resign."
Kim also said, "Even if the issue of concurrently serving as a proportional representative may not be a legal violation, there were aspects that did not fully meet the public's expectations and sentiment."
Yong held a press conference that morning and said she would withdraw her nomination. She added that it was not she who first expressed an intention to resign, but that she accepted the Democratic Party's recommendation to step down.
Yong said, "I was told by the Democratic Party that while it respects the situation facing the nominee and the Basic Income Party, considering that public consensus is not broad on concurrently serving as Minister and lawmaker, it wanted the nominee to make a decision."
