A woman in her 30s who was referred without detention on a charge of obstructing business for blocking officials including those from the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) from entering while saying she would guard a ballot-counting site around Olympic Park in Songpa District, Seoul, has entered the race for a supreme council seat in the party "Freedom and Innovation," founded by Hwang Kyo-ahn.
According to political circles on the 12th, Oh Ja-yeon recently attended a lot-drawing event for candidate numbers in the election for elected supreme council members at the 2nd Freedom and Innovation party convention, which was streamed live on the YouTube channel "Hwang Kyo-ahn TV."
On the Freedom and Innovation website, Oh is registered as candidate No. 5 for a supreme council seat. The birth year is listed as 1994.
Oh wrote that she dropped out of the School of Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering at the University of Seoul and listed "All Dark CEO" as a key career entry. Unlike other candidates who highlighted intra-party political experience such as special aides to the Freedom and Innovation party leader or local youth chairs, the representative experience Oh disclosed did not list any separate political activity.
"All Dark" is a nickname that spread online after footage became known of Oh blocking officials from resident organizations such as the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee (KSOC) from entering around Olympic Park. Over the incident, Oh was referred without detention in July on a charge of obstructing business.
Oh said Freedom and Innovation is a party that aligns with her political agenda and views. She said, "When I was shouldering legal risks, it was a party that helped me," adding, "I intend to devote myself as best I can, mustering courage and passion."
Oh also announced on her YouTube channel that she is running as candidate No. 5 in the supreme council election. As for why she is running, she said, "I think I will use my name, Oh Ja-yeon, going forward," and added, "Freedom and Innovation said it needs talent, so I applied to help."
