President Lee Jae-myung, who left for a state visit to France, returned on the afternoon of the 10th.
On this day at about 1:37 p.m., President Lee arrived at Seongnam Seoul Air Base with first lady Kim Hea-kyung.
In attendance were Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung, Democratic Party of Korea leader Kim Min-seok, Democratic Party of Korea floor leader Han Byeong-do, chief of staff Kang Hoon-sik, senior presidential secretary for political affairs Hong Ik-pyo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs second vice minister Kim Jin-a, and the commander of the Air Force 15th Special Mission Wing.
President Lee stepped outside Air Force One with the first lady and bowed in greeting, and the attendees applauded.
During the five-day, three-night trip, President Lee held a Korea-France summit with President Emmanuel Macron and discussed ways to cooperate in advanced fields such as the defense industry and nuclear power.
He also attended the international film and video summit "Lumière Summit" as co-chair with France and decided to invest 500 million euros (about 800 billion won) in the video industry over five years.
Upon arrival at the Blue House, President Lee is expected to receive briefings from aides on major domestic and international issues and contemplate the future policy direction.
Controversy over lack of qualifications is intensifying around Ministry of Gender Equality and Family Minister nominee Yong Hye-in and Ministry of Justice Minister nominee Kim Seung-won, and the issue of deploying troops to the Strait of Hormuz also needs a decision.
The Blue House has a principled position that "the confirmation hearing process must be followed" regarding the Cabinet reshuffle controversy, but it is expected to closely watch the flow of public opinion. As opposition voices are already emerging within the ruling camp over the Hormuz deployment issue, it is highly likely to maintain a cautious stance for the time being.
