A public opinion poll released on the 10th found that negative assessments calling the nominations of lawmakers Yong Hye-in and Kim Seung-won as the nominees for Minister of Gender Equality and Family and Minister of Justice, respectively, a "wrong appointment" were about twice as high as positive assessments calling them a "good appointment."
According to the results of the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted by Embrain Public, Kstat Research, Korea Research International, and Hankook Research from the 7th to the 9th, the positive rating for lawmaker Kim, nominated as Minister of Justice, was 24%, while the negative rating was 47%. For lawmaker Yong, nominated as Minister of Gender Equality and Family, the positive rating was 17% and the negative rating was 63%.
Specifically, among Democratic Party of Korea supporters, 46% said Kim was a "good appointment," higher than the 27% who called it a "wrong appointment." However, among People Power Party supporters and the unaffiliated, responses calling it a "wrong appointment" exceeded a majority at 72% and 52%, respectively.
For Yong, even among Democratic Party of Korea supporters, the view that it was a "wrong appointment" led at 50%, ahead of "good appointment" at 31%, while among People Power Party supporters and the unaffiliated, "wrong appointment" came in at 84% and 62%, respectively.
The survey was conducted through interviewer-administered telephone interviews with 1,002 voters aged 18 and older.
