The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said on the 10th it will hold a Chuseok "So(cow)prise Korea premium Korean beef, known as hanwoo discount event."
The ministry said it will hold discount events for 13 days from the 12th to the 24th, the peak Chuseok season, in cooperation with the Hanwoo Self-help Fund, NongHyup Economic Holdings, and the Hanwoo Association, at NongHyup Hanaro Mart, major big-box stores, and major online malls.
According to the ministry, participating companies will sell at discounted prices based on Grade 1: sirloin at 7,590 won per 100 grams, brisket at 4,300 won, and other bulgogi and soup cuts at 3,310 won or less, which is about 31%–34% cheaper than early-September consumer prices.
Also, while discounted prices vary by cut and grade at each participating company, they will be sold at prices reduced by up to 52.4% compared with regular prices.
