Traffic will be partially controlled on Sowol-ro in Jung and Yongsan districts and around Euljiro 1-ga in Seoul on the 16th.
The safety control unit of the Presidential Security Service said on the 9th that it made this decision for the "1st Korea–Central Asia summit," which will be held from the 16th to the 17th.
Major control sections and times are as follows: ▲ Sowol-ro from noon to 9 p.m. on the day (about six to seven brief full-lane controls in both directions) ▲ around Euljiro 1-ga before and after the summit (some lanes), where traffic will be restricted.
The safety control unit plans to launch multifaceted publicity to minimize inconvenience to residents caused by the traffic controls. Starting on the 10th, it will post traffic control guidance content on the KT Building Gwanghwamun Square and Seoul City Hall electronic billboards and on the Presidential Security Service's official YouTube channel.
It also plans, in coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs preparation planning team and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency, to install standing signboards announcing traffic restrictions and to push traffic restriction alerts on T Map, Kakao Map, and Naver Map.
Hwang In-kwon, head of the safety control unit, said, "We ask for the broad understanding of residents," and added, "During the control period, please refrain from using private cars as much as possible and use public transportation such as the subway."
The 1st Korea–Central Asia summit is a multilateral summit between Korea and the five Central Asian countries, with the leaders of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan attending.
