President Lee Jae-myung, on a state visit to France, met with Yaël Braun-Pivet, president of the French National Assembly, on the 9th (local time) to discuss ways to expand bilateral cooperation.
The meeting, held in the office at President Braun-Pivet's official residence, was joined on the Korean side by Minister Cho Hyun of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Wi Sung-lac, director of the Office of National Security, and on the French side by Bruno Fuchs, chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee, and Sabrina Sebaihi, head of the France-Korea Parliamentary Friendship Association.
President Lee wrote in the guest book to mark the 140th anniversary of diplomatic ties, "I hope the next 140 years between Korea and France will be opened together by the governments and parliaments of both countries."
After the meeting, President Lee was introduced to and exchanged greetings with a colleague of President Braun-Pivet who is an adoptee born in Korea.
In addition, President Lee received macarons as a gift from President Braun-Pivet's side and said, "You gave me something so precious," and after tasting them, said, "They're so delicious. Thank you," and offered some to President Braun-Pivet as well.
