The Basic Income Party on the 7th held a nationwide concurrent party leadership election for the second half of the year and elected its party leader and Supreme Council members. Oh Jun-ho, head of the Basic Income Policy Research Institute, who ran unopposed, was elected party leader. Park Ki-hong, vice president for strategy and planning and the husband of Minister of Gender Equality and Family nominee Yong Hye-in, was elected to the Supreme Council.
The Basic Income Party said that day that Oh was elected party leader with a final vote share of 93.89%, winning 1,276 votes from dues-paying members and 173 votes from delegates. Oh served as co-leader of the party with nominee Yong from 2022 to 2024.
In the Supreme Council election, Noh Seo-young, the Basic Income Party Spokesperson, won 35.16%, incumbent Supreme Council member Shin Ji-hye won 28.50%, and Park, the vice president and husband of nominee Yong, won 20.85%, and all were elected.
At the Supreme Council meeting that day, Oh said, "To ensure the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family under the Lee Jae-myung administration delivers results, Minister Yong Hye-in and the Basic Income Party will work together." On allegations recently raised about the party's secret inner circle, Oh said, "I can say clearly that it is not true at all," and added, "If there are repeated and malicious attempts to insult the party's democratic order and spread fake news, we will respond legally."
