On the 7th, according to "Status of real estate rental income by year for minors" obtained by Rep. Mun Jin-seok of the Democratic Party of Korea on the National Assembly Strategy and Finance Committee from the National Tax Service, 179 children ages 0 to 5 reported real estate rental income in 2024.
By age, 5-year-olds were the most at 71, followed by ▲ 4-year-olds 51 ▲ 3-year-olds 33 ▲ 2-year-olds 15 ▲ 0–1-year-olds 9. According to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's resident registration population statistics for 2024, the population ages 0–5 is 1,582,000. About 0.01% of them earned rental income from real estate before starting school.
Their average rental income per person exceeded 10 million won. ▲ 0–1-year-olds 14.7 million won, 2-year-olds 12.3 million won, 3-year-olds 18.4 million won, 4-year-olds 14.7 million won, 5-year-olds 15 million won.
Expanding to minors age 18 and younger, 3,233 people reported 55.584 billion won in real estate rental income. That is about 0.04% of the population in the same age group (7,325,000). Average rental income per person was 17.2 million won.
Meanwhile, from 2020 to 2024, more than 3,000 minors reported real estate rental income each year. Their average income per person ranged from 17.2 million to 18.5 million won annually.
