President Lee Jae-myung said on the 5th that he "joins the public in wishing for the safe voyage and return of the PanStar ACRO, the first pioneer vessel of the Arctic route that will open the southern maritime capital, Busan."
On X (formerly Twitter) that day, the president attached a video filmed aboard the PanStar ACRO and wrote this.
The president said, "This is a navigation video filmed at 10 a.m. today aboard the PanStar ACRO, Korea's first pioneer vessel of the Arctic route, passing through the Arctic waters 81 kilometers southwest of Russia's Bolshevik Island," adding, "It will arrive at its first port of call, Felixstowe in the United Kingdom, on the 12th."
The PanStar ACRO is the first Korean container ship to conduct a trial voyage on the Arctic route, having departed from Busan New Port on the 22nd of last month. With a capacity of 2,758 TEU (1 TEU is one 20-foot container), the Arctic Ocean sailing distance is about 6,400 kilometers.
