The Blue House said on the 4th that President Lee Jae-myung will depart on the 6th for a state visit to France.
The tour will run for four days and three nights. On the 7th, the president will attend the "Lumière Summit," an international film and video leaders' meeting held in Saint-Paul-de-Vence in southern France, as a co-chair with President Macron.
Wi Sung-lac, the Blue House national security director, said in a briefing that day, "As a co-chair country with France, which has led the birth and growth of the film industry, we will lead discussions on the future of the global film and video industry and use this as an opportunity to expand the foundation for K-content and our corporations to enter European and global markets."
From the 8th to the 9th, the president is scheduled to carry out his state visit itinerary in Paris. After laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier at the Arc de Triomphe, the president will attend the official welcome ceremony.
He will then hold a one-on-one lunch at the Élysée Palace attended only by the two leaders. After that, the two countries will hold an expanded summit with their delegations.
He will also attend the "Korea-France Business Roundtable," with participation from about 20 corporations from both countries. In the evening, he will attend the state banquet hosted by President Macron and the first lady at the Élysée Palace.
On the final day, the 9th, he will meet with French National Assembly Speaker Braun-Pivet, hold a luncheon meeting with local Koreans, and meet with OECD Secretary-General Mathias Cormann.
Director Wi explained the significance of the trip, saying, "Through practical cooperation encompassing security, the economy, and people-to-people exchanges, we will deepen the 'global strategic partnership' with France and add new momentum to expanding diplomacy with Europe."
He also said, "With France, a leader in future industries, we will expand cooperation in cutting-edge technology fields such as AI, space, nuclear power, and bio, and invigorate exchanges in youth and science and technology to further solidify the foundation for the sustainable development of bilateral relations."
