The People Power Party aides' council said on the 3rd that it held the 1st brown-bag meeting of the 36th People Power Party aides' council, "Lunch & Learn," in conference room No. 8 of the National Assembly Members' Office Building on the 2nd.
The theme of the meeting was "Legislation that reaches the public — media networks and strategies for getting stories published," with JTBC policy desk reporter Ha Hye-bin and DONG-A ILBO politics desk reporter Lee Sang-heon as lecturers, walking through the entire process from a lawmaker's office requesting materials to completion as a single story. Reporter Ha Hye-bin said, "One TV report runs 1 minute 20 seconds to, at most, 2 minutes, and within that we have to include facts, footage and interviews," while reporter Lee Sang-heon, drawing on reporting experience built up covering both the National Assembly and the presidential office, introduced case studies and proposed a collaborative approach in which lawmaker offices and reporters develop issues together.
Park Hyun-young, president of the People Power Party aides' council, said, "The practical capabilities of aides are the competitiveness of legislative activities," adding, "We will consistently create learning opportunities that can be put to use on the ground to support the growth of all aides."
The People Power Party aides' council plans to run "Lunch & Learn" as a regular program on the first Wednesday of every month, holding it a total of eight times over a year. The second brown-bag meeting will be held at the same time on Nov. 4, taking into account the schedule for the National Assembly audit.
