Kim Yong-beom, the Blue House policy chief, said on the 1st, "There is still a lot to do, but now it is time for me to step aside and for the next people to do their part," offering his farewell remarks.
Kim said on his Facebook page that day, "I have completed my duty as the first policy chief of the Lee Jae-myung administration," and released his farewell message to the staff of the policy office.
Kim said, "When I took on the role of policy chief, I thought I was shouldering a responsibility far greater than my ability," adding, "I demanded a lot and pushed a lot, which must have made things hard, but thank you for running with me to the end."
He went on, "People often marveled and asked how we managed to handle the whirlwind of work while serving a president who personally oversees policy," adding, "I always answered, 'The best talent in Korea is gathered in the policy office.'" He added, "I clearly saw how much deliberation, persuasion and coordination are needed before a single policy comes out into the world," and said, "I am proud of the results we produced."
Kim said, "I feel sorry to be the first to leave and add to your burden," adding, "Once outside, I will talk more about how fiercely you worked and who stood behind this administration's achievements."
