The National Intelligence Service said on the 1st that there are "signs of dialogue" between U.S. President Donald Trump and Kim Jong-un, chairman of North Korea's State Affairs Commission, and that a North Korea-U.S. summit could be held at any time.
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) delivered this report at a closed-door full meeting of the National Assembly Intelligence Committee in the morning. Ruling party secretary Yun Geon-young of the Intelligence Committee said in a briefing that "there was an analysis that a North Korea-U.S. summit should be seen as possible at any time," adding, "There is no confirmed fact of specific contact between North Korea and the United States, but there are signs of dialogue."
Rep. Yun also said, "Regarding why Kim Ju-ae is frequently exposed in the media, the view is that Kim Ju-ae is effectively at the stage of being designated as successor," adding, "They see it as aimed at imprinting her as a leader on North Korean residents."
The National Intelligence Service (NIS) also said in its report that it has secured and is analyzing internal documents of the Workers' Party of Korea and missile blueprints. Opposition party secretary Yoo Young-ha explained, "North Korea expanded the Reconnaissance General Bureau into the Reconnaissance Information General Bureau, strengthening its counterintelligence function and concurrently assigning Ri Chang-ho, the head of the Reconnaissance General Bureau, to handle operational information coming out of the war in Ukraine."
