KORAIL (Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL)) said a temporary signal failure occurred inside Seoul Station on the Gyeongbu Line on the afternoon of the 30th, delaying some trains including KTX by up to 50 minutes.
According to Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL), the signal failure occurred at about 12:20 p.m. inside Seoul Station on the Gyeongbu Line. KORAIL's initial response team was dispatched to the scene and carried out emergency measures, completing restoration at about 1:48 p.m., but as of 2:10 p.m., train delays had not been fully resolved.
Because of this incident, 13 high-speed trains including KTX, four conventional trains such as Mugunghwa and Saemaeul, and two commuter trains (Subway Line 1) were delayed by about 10 to 50 minutes. A KORAIL official said, "We are investigating the exact cause of the signal failure."
