Kim Min-seok of the Democratic Party of Korea said on the 28th that he would raise transparency in party operations by livestreaming work briefings from the secretariat and other internal departments.
At the supreme council meeting held that morning at Inspire Hotel in Yeongjong-gu, Incheon, Kim said, "We will start with a short-form briefing by the secretariat, then prepare work briefings by standing special committees, task forces (TFs), and city and provincial party chapters before beginning," adding, "As I said, we will livestream it."
Livestreaming work briefings was one of Kim's campaign pledges during the party convention. Visiting Incheon on the 24th, Kim said, "The party, like the government, must be more open to the public," and noted, "Just as the president livestreams government work briefings, the Democratic Party will also regularly receive reports on how major policy areas such as youth, labor, women, small business owners, and small and midsize enterprises are being prepared, and will livestream them."
Kim also said he would allow lawmakers to attend the briefings in person. He said, "To enhance sharing about the work, even without separate notice, if lawmakers want to sit in on-site in addition to the livestream, please have the secretariat arrange for their attendance."
The livestreamed work briefings begin today. Kim will first receive a short-form work briefing from the secretariat, then proceed in order with the standing special committees, TFs, and city and provincial party chapters.
