A poll found that the positive assessment of President Lee Jae-myung's handling of state affairs was 38.9%, falling below 40% for the first time since taking office. The negative assessment was 57.9%, topping a majority.
According to a survey conducted by polling firm Jowon C&I at the request of Straight News on the 22nd to the 24th, the president's job rating was found at 38.9% positive and 57.9% negative. Specifically, among positive evaluations, "doing very well" was 25.7% and "doing well" was 13.2%, while among negative evaluations, "not doing well" was 12.8% and "doing very poorly" was found at 45.1%.
This is the first time since taking office in June last year that the president's positive rating in the poll fell below 40%. Compared with the previous survey conducted on Aug. 8-10, the positive rating dropped 4.0 percentage points (p) from 42.9% to 38.9%, while the negative rating rose 3.8 percentage points (p) from 54.1% to 57.9%.
By region, only in South Jeolla–Gwangju and North Jeolla did the positive rating lead. In South Jeolla–Gwangju and North Jeolla, the positive rating was 65.3%, while it was 33.5% in Daejeon–Sejong–Chungcheong, 34.2% in Busan–Ulsan–South Gyeongsang, and 34.9% in Seoul.
The survey was conducted nationwide with 2,001 respondents aged 18 or older using an automated response method to mobile phone calls. The response rate was 3.8%, and the margin of sampling error was ±2.2 percentage points at a 95% confidence level. For details, refer to the National Election Survey Deliberation Commission website.
