Prime Minister Han Seong-sook on the 25th said of the redevelopment and reconstruction methods that Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon is putting forward as a housing supply measure, "Given current prices and various conditions, the parts related to youth housing seem somewhat difficult."
At a comprehensive policy inquiry of the Special Committee on Budget & Accounts at the National Assembly that day, when Democratic Party of Korea lawmaker Kim Nam-geun asked, "Can youth housing be supplied through Mayor Oh's maintenance projects?" Han replied, "For young people who are just making an initial entry, to be honest, the price range is a bit burdensome."
On the government's overall real estate supply policy, Han said, "It should be changed so that it becomes a bit more predictable what changes there will be for young people and consumers."
In response to a question from Democratic Party lawmaker Cho In-cheol, who pointed out the concentration of population and industry in the capital region, Han said, "What the government calls the three mega projects, the overall policy that builds an ecosystem for corporations and extends to living conditions, is truly important."
Han added, "If the overall ecosystem is built well as a model, a new era will open," and "We really have to stake the future on this."
