Kim Hyun-chul, the second son of former President Kim Young-sam and chair of the Kim Young-sam Presidential Memorial Foundation, on the 23rd criticized People Power Party leader Jang Dong-hyeok as "the No. 1 contributor propping up the Lee Jae-myung administration," while predicting that in the 2030 presidential election a conservative reconstruction faction will achieve a change of government.
Posting on his Facebook page that day, Kim said, "With stock market turmoil, real estate turmoil, and public safety turmoil looming, people across the spectrum are stepping up to criticize the Lee Jae-myung administration, but the one person who, to preserve his own power, cannot even distinguish friend from foe and keeps firing indiscriminately is Jang Dong-hyeok," adding, "If Yoon Suk-yeol is the No. 1 contributor who created the Lee Jae-myung administration, then the No. 1 contributor who is propping up this administration, which only hatches deadly ploys, is Jang Dong-hyeok."
He also continued his criticism over the recent decision by the People Power Party's ethics committee to suspend the party memberships of lawmakers Kwon Young-jin, Seo Beom-soo, Cho Kyung-tae, and Jin Jong-oh for periods ranging from 10 months to 2 years and 6 months. Aimed at Jang, Kim said, "I don't know why a handful of power is so addictive that no matter what the enemy does, you're just frantic because you can't finish off your own people."
He also took aim at the party itself, saying, "With no adults in the room, instead of dragging out such a madman, everyone just keeps their heads down, worried that some problem might arise with nominations in the next general election, and the place is filled with people who are tight-lipped," adding, "In a word, this is an unmistakable sign of doom."
However, Kim projected the possibility of a conservative camp winning back power in the 2030 presidential election.
He said, "Because the Lee Jae-myung administration has engaged in self-defeating political schemes to cover up its own crimes, the anger of the mid-spectrum, capital region, and young voters is peaking, making a crushing defeat in the capital region inevitable," adding, "In 2028 it will have to accept a miserable result that falls short of a nationwide majority, and ultimately, in the 2030 presidential election, a change of government will surely be achieved by a reformist and rational conservative reconstruction faction."
