The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs said on the 17th it will strengthen support to push a plan to expand the minimum rearing area per chicken from 0.05㎡ to 0.075㎡. It will support the expense of building new facilities or expanding existing ones to increase rearing area.
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to select the recipients of the support. It will accept project applications through cities, counties, and districts through the end of this month, then convene a selection committee.
Starting in Sept. 2027, farms producing "grade 4 eggs (cage rearing)" must expand related facilities to rear at 0.075㎡ per bird or reduce the number of birds.
The government will also rationalize regulations that restrict livestock-rearing zones. Local governments have expanded livestock-rearing restriction zones on the grounds that livestock sheds generate complaints, and officials plan to discuss ways to adjust them. The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs plans to hold meetings with cities and counties for this.
