Prime Minister Han Seong-sook visited Geoje, South Gyeongsang, on the 17th, where damage from torrential rain occurred, to inspect the damage and promised swift restoration for the displaced.
At about 6:30 p.m. that day, Han visited the site of the landslide, received a briefing on the situation, and said, "Have the relevant ministries and local governments push ahead with swift restoration and make every effort to ensure the safety of on-site workers."
Saying that additional landslides could occur due to weakened ground, Han ordered authorities to check for risks in advance and to evacuate preemptively if signs are found. Han visited temporary housing for the displaced to check whether there were any difficulties in daily life and encouraged the displaced and Korean Red Cross volunteers.
Han said, "Please work to operate the facilities and provide support so that the displaced do not feel inconvenienced."
