Lee Jae-myung, the president, said through a video congratulatory message at the party convention to elect the Democratic Party of Korea's new leader, "Our Democratic Party was strongest when we were one," and added, "Starting today, we must rally again as one around the new leadership."
On the 17th, the president sent a video message to the Democratic Party convention held at the Daejeon Convention Center, saying, "At every moment of countless crises, the Democratic Party has steadily grown into a stronger party based on the dedication of party members and the trust of the people," and added, "Because each of us has an urgent desire for a better country, it is clear that we will move forward as a stronger and more competent party that will lead the Republic of Korea's growth and leap."
He continued, "Amid the waves of multiple crises over the past year, we instead confirmed Korea's potential, possibilities, and great opportunities," and added, "Let's make this year the start of the bold dream of an irreplaceable Korea that no country in the world can substitute."
The president said, "I hope we can press ahead with the people toward a Korea that the world truly needs as an essential nation; an industrial powerhouse where the people and every region share opportunities and benefits of growth; and a Korea where the people are the owners and are happy together," and added, "I trust the competent and strong leadership of the Democratic Party, comrades who share the same purpose and walk toward the same goal, who are building a democratic Korea together."
Finally, the president emphasized, "Respected and beloved party comrades, we are one."
