Kim Young-bae, a lawmaker (Seongbuk A in Seoul), was elected as chairperson of the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul chapter.
The Democratic Party's Seoul chapter held its 3rd regular party members' convention at KINTEX in Goyang, Gyeonggi, on the 16th and elected Kim as the chapter chairperson. Kim ran unopposed in this election and won with 74.24% approval in the for-and-against vote.
In his acceptance speech, the new chairperson, Kim, noted the Democratic Party's defeat in the Seoul mayoral race in the last local elections and emphasized, "Now we will build a Seoul that never loses again, a Seoul that never again opens the way to insurgent forces."
He went on to pledge the establishment of ▲the Oh Se-hoon Seoul City Administration Special Response Headquarters ▲the Seoul chapter's Youth Special Headquarters ▲the Seoul chapter's Policy Research Institute, and emphasized, "We will prepare for the upcoming general election and a possible Seoul mayoral by-election."
