The National Election Commission dismissed appeals filed by the People Power Party over the Seoul mayoral race and others, citing ballot shortages during the June 3 local elections.
On the 12th, the commission said in a press release that, regarding the June 3 local elections, it decided 261 appeals seeking to void elections or invalidate victories in races for provincial governors and superintendents of education, and proportional-representation metropolitan councilors, dismissing 112 and rejecting 149.
Regarding the Seoul mayoral election appeal filed by the People Power Party, the commission said, "There are facts that violate election-related regulations concerning ballot shortages and the suspension of voting in some precincts, but these facts cannot be seen as having affected the election result, so the appeal is dismissed."
The commission also dismissed all appeals filed by the People Power Party concerning the proportional-representation elections for the Seoul Metropolitan Council, as well as the Busan mayoral and Busan Metropolitan Council proportional-representation elections, the Incheon mayoral and Incheon Metropolitan Council proportional-representation elections, and the Ulsan mayoral and Ulsan Metropolitan Council proportional-representation elections.
Appeals filed by the People Power Party regarding the Gyeonggi governor and Gyeonggi Provincial Council proportional-representation elections, the North Chungcheong governor and North Chungcheong Provincial Council proportional-representation elections, and the South Jeolla–Gwangju Integrated Special Mayor and South Jeolla–Gwangju Integrated Special Council proportional-representation elections were also dismissed.
Earlier, the commission also dismissed or rejected appeals over the Seoul mayoral race that had recently been filed by ordinary voters and others.
