Applications to sit for the 2027 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) will begin at 9 a.m. on the 24th at 85 district education offices nationwide and at high schools. The application period runs until 5 p.m. on Sept. 4.
To apply, enter your test information in advance online (https://www.mycsat.re.kr), then complete identity verification at an in-person application site. The advance entry period runs from 9 a.m. on the 20th to 6 p.m. on Sept. 3. Entries can be made 24 hours a day, including weekends.
Applicants must apply in person. However, for patients who are hospitalized long-term, military service members, incarcerated persons, residents living overseas as of the application date, and other unavoidable cases recognized by the city/provincial superintendent of education, immediate family or a spouse may apply on their behalf.
◇ High school graduates must apply at their alma mater
Students expected to graduate while enrolled will submit applications collectively through their school. High school graduates apply at their alma mater. Among high school graduates, if the test district with jurisdiction over the current resident registration address differs from that of the alma mater's location, or if the current resident registration address and alma mater's location fall under different administrative jurisdictions within the same test district, applications may also be filed at the district education office with jurisdiction over the current resident registration address.
Those who passed the high school equivalency exam and others with recognized academic credentials may apply at the district education office with jurisdiction over their current resident registration address. Patients hospitalized long-term, military service members, incarcerated persons, and those recognized as having other special reasons may apply at the district education office with jurisdiction over their alma mater, their current resident registration address, or their actual residence.
Among high school graduates from Jeju Special Self-Governing Province and those whose resident registration address is in Jeju Special Self-Governing Province but who are preparing for the test outside Jeju, applications can be submitted at a separate site set up at the Seongdong-Gwangjin District Office of Education in Seoul from Sept. 3 to Sept. 4.
◇ For advance entry, prepare an identity verification method, a passport photo file, and the application fee
For online advance entry, prepare a mobile phone or simple authentication certificate, i-PIN, or accredited certificate for identity verification, a passport-size photo file, and the application fee. For in-person application, bring a photo ID such as a resident registration card, driver's license, or passport. If identity verification cannot be completed using the photo registered in the online advance entry system, the application site may require you to submit two printed passport photos.
Graduates and high school equivalency passers who are eligible for a fee waiver must submit supporting documents when visiting the application site. Test-takers eligible for accommodations—such as those with severe or mild visual impairments, motor disorders including brain lesions, or severe or mild hearing impairments—must submit supporting documents such as a disability certificate valid within the period, a diagnosis issued by a general hospital director, and a confirmation letter from the school principal. In particular, those eligible for accommodations must visit the application site with a photo ID, two passport-size photos, and relevant supporting documents (such as a disability certificate and a diagnosis issued by a general hospital director).
If a graduate applies at the district education office with jurisdiction over the current resident registration address rather than at their alma mater, they must additionally submit a graduation certificate and a resident registration abstract. In addition, among graduates who wish to take the vocational inquiry area, a confirmation letter from the school principal is required to prove completion of at least 86 credits (units) in the specialized curriculum II for industry-demand customized high schools and specialized high schools (for those who graduated before Mar. 1, 2020, the vocational track specialized curriculum), or at least 80 units for those who graduated before Mar. 1, 2016. Also, those who passed the high school equivalency exam must bring the original pass certificate and submit a copy or a certificate of passing, and others with recognized academic credentials must prepare documents proving academic recognition.
◇ Application fees range from 37,000 won to 47,000 won depending on the number of sections selected
Application fees vary by the number of sections selected. If the number of sections selected is four or fewer, the fee is 37,000 won; five sections, 42,000 won; six sections, 47,000 won. As of the application date, recipients of the National Basic Livelihood Security, those in legally defined lower-income brackets, and recipients of single-parent family support may apply for a fee waiver.
Application fees can be paid during advance entry by credit card, virtual account, or simple payment. They can also be paid at the in-person application site by credit card, virtual account, or simple payment. If you were admitted through rolling admissions or could not take the CSAT due to a natural disaster, illness, or other reasons, you can apply for a refund and receive your money back.
