President Lee Jae-myung on the 11th shifted his base from Southeast Asia to Kazakhstan and, regarding the arrest of Korean scam ring members who committed voice phishing crimes, said, "No matter where they hide, we will track them to the end and make sure they face the judgment of the law."
In a post on X (formerly Twitter) that day, President Lee said, "Korean ring members who infiltrated Kazakhstan after passing through Cambodia and Vietnam and carried out voice phishing crimes against our citizens were all repatriated to Korea within two weeks of their arrest on site and are under police investigation," and stated accordingly. He then said, "There will not be a single exception for crimes that harm the safety of the people of the Republic of Korea and their peaceful daily lives."
Lee also explained, "The reason it could proceed swiftly from arrest to repatriation was because of the active support and cooperation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev of Kazakhstan and the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan."
He added, "I express my deep gratitude to President Tokayev and the relevant authorities," and explained, "I look forward to meeting in person and conveying my greetings at the Korea–Central Asia summit next month."
