In a notice sent to the press corps that day, chief presidential spokesperson Kang Yu-jung said, "The president is scheduled to preside over the second meeting on the 7th regarding matters he instructed at the real estate and stock market review meeting on the 3rd."
Earlier, the president held a meeting on the 3rd on the theme of real estate policy. As the government pushes to strengthen capital gains tax and the comprehensive real estate tax on non-residential dwellings and high-priced dwellings, concerns have grown that dwelling sales and jeonse and monthly rent prices could instead rise.
At the meeting, the president was said to have instructed the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and other relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to secure enough volume so that many dwellings can be supplied quickly.
A news outlet reported that day that the government will announce a real estate supply plan next week to newly supply 50,000 households in the Seoul metropolitan area. The Blue House said of the report, "The government is reviewing various plans to expand the supply of dwellings, but neither the details of a specific supply plan nor the timing of its announcement have been finalized."
